about me
Hi! I’m Rumaan Khan, a high school senior from Port Jefferson, NY, and the founder of several sustainability-focused projects like the Gharo Project, RecAIcle, and Anki Cam. My passion for engineering and problem-solving was sparked by stories from my grandfather, who worked as an aeronautical engineer in Pakistan. His legacy inspired me to explore how technology can be used to solve real-world problems.
Over the years, I’ve worked on projects that aim to make a difference. For example, I installed a solar-powered water filtration system in my ancestral village to provide clean drinking water to the local school. I’ve also co-founded RecAIcle, an AI-powered waste management platform, to help people easily identify and dispose of waste in the right way.
Growing up in Port Jefferson, I’ve always been driven to apply what I learn to help both local and global communities. From internships to courses like Sustainable Product Design, I’ve developed the skills needed to merge technology with sustainability. My goal is to create adaptable solutions that improve the lives of people in developing areas through the power of innovative engineering.
